We look forward to welcoming you to Eagle Ridge for the Featherweight Retreat featuring Nova's Singer Featherweight 221 Maintenance Class: A Spa Day for Your Featherweight™️.
In addition to the maintenance class, you will also have classes and workshops in Fabric Waxing, Indigo Dyeing, a Quilt Trunk Show, 1933 World's Fair when Featherweights were Introduced, Fabric Making in America, Open-Sew Studio time, chair massages, delicious meals, rocking chairs, porch swings, walking trails, screen porch, and lake-side nooks for relaxing with new and old friends.

What to expect at the Featherweight Retreat? A lot!
Nationally acclaimed Singer Featherweight Instructor, Nova Montgomery, will conduct Nova's Singer Featherweight 221 Maintenance Class : A Spa Day for your Machine™️ but that is not all! You will also have two days of open-sew studio time. Your machine will be purring like never before after spending a day in the spa. What could be better than time set apart to enjoy your newly cleaned and maintained Featherweight!

Fabric WaxingMarty Mason will present a fun recycling effort with special emphasis on waxed fabric and its uses. Followed by a hands on demonstration where everyone will be waxing fabric to take home. The presentation includes a kit made especially for you that contains beeswax pellets, cotton, linen, and hand dyed fabric piece, as well as parchment to protect your work surface. |
Indigo DyeingWinki Allen, Textile Artist and Fellow Member of the Craftsman's Guild of Mississippi, is a botanical fabric dyeing artist. She dyes in the purest, most chemical free method available. Winki maintains a beautiful working dyeing garden at her home in Enterprise, Mississippi. |
Open-Sew StudioCome ready to relax, learn, and be inspired with old friends and new ones. You will have a 6 foot table to yourself in the Open-Sew Studio. Each day that you are scheduled in the sewing studio, you will have the additional classes and workshops that you see listed above. One day you will be scheduled to attend Nova's Maintenance class and for that day you will move to the classroom. |
Quilt Trunk ShowDurden Moss is a Master Quilter whose work is not only beautiful but each piece holds stories and love for her family and friends. Each stitch of Quilting is done by hand and each stitch of piecing is done on her Singer Featherweight or her Singer Model 15. Durden will present many of her beautiful quilts at the Featherweight Retreat. |
A Century of ProgressLet's go to the Fair! Nova takes us back in time to see the background in our country leading up to the fair, the factors that contributed to the enormous participation, some of the quilts made for the fair, and the people who made them. This has become Nova's most popular quilt guild presentation. |
Vendor DayWednesday is Vendor Day! Make sure to visit the Vendor Room many times on Wednesday! You will not want to miss a single thing. Cotton Blossom Fabric Shoppe will be joining us for Vendor Day. Fabric Waxer, Marty Mason, and Textile Artist, Winki Allen will have items for sale on vendor day. Round-trip Airport Shuttle Service If you will be needing airport shuttle services you will forward your flight information to retreat coordinator, Anne Robertson for coordination. The 25 minute shuttle between the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) is $ round-trip. Deposit $ per person Nonrefundable. Nontransferable. Deposit is deducted from total fee. Balance Due Dates Final payment is due no later than two months prior to your retreat. Check-in / Check-out times Check-in 3:00 - 6:00 Monday Check-out after breakfast on Friday Airport shuttle leaves Gray Center at 9:00 am on the final day. |
